Vintage French Ticking Tablecloth or Fabric, Faded Khaki/White
This lovely vintage French ticking is a mix of cotton/linen, measuring 53.5 by 92 inches and hemmed on four sides. It has a great patina and weight that new reproductions just cannot duplicate!
The color is difficult to describe: it is close to a natural flax color with just a tint of olive green. Formerly used as a mattress cover, there are typical signs of use, but these are subtle and help to give it character: occasional broken threads or slight discoloration where tufting or stitches were removed, and some variations in color. In this case there is some very subtle, gradual fading in the middle of the piece (only obvious when the piece is folded), and one nearly invisible small spot. This ticking has a twill weave with a chevron pattern, and though thick and strong, it has softened with age and use; its imperfections only add to its authenticity, patina and charm.
This fabric is ready to cover a table, hang from a window or thrown onto a favorite chair. Cut, it could be used for any number of different kinds of projects: a twin duvet cover, pillows, bags, lampshades, upholstery or patchwork.
