Antique French Fabric Textile, 19th c. Arboreal in Blue & Grey
This is a beautiful and stunning panel of fabric dating from c. 1880 France. It combines a climbing rose motif with other exotic flowers and butterflies (reminiscent of 18th century arboreal prints) in several shades of grey on a background of thin medium and dark Prussian blue.
Measuring 99 inches long (plus a 2 inch hem) and 31 inches wide, it is in excellent condition throughout, but with a couple of small rust spots and holes in the middle (to one side) and a subtle, faded line that runs across the fabric at midpoint (both are shown in a photo below). There are a couple of small pin holes and along the selvedges there are stitch holes.
This fabric would be gorgeous in a period room. It could be made into striking pillows or used in light upholstery projects. It would look beautiful with fabrics from the same period or, for a simpler look, with french ticking or grain sacks in similar colors.
Additional panels are available upon request.
