Antique French Fabric "Indienne" in Grays, Beige, Rust, Steel Blue
This is a beautiful, softly faded print from the late 19th century. Styled after 18th-century prints from India that have remained popular in French design. The fabric is a soft, medium-weight cotton with thick (weft) cross-wise and thin length-wise (warp) threads.
The colors include pale and medium gray, off-white, peach, rust, beige and a background of steel blue -- a beautiful and subtle (yet intricate) print that would work well in neutral or dark rooms as pillows, table runners or other accessories, as well as sewn into bags or used for light upholstery projects.
Size: 31.5 by 36 inches (4 available as separate purchases)
Age: c. 1890
Condition: Very good: some slight fading in a few areas; a few dark spots that appear to be printing imperfections and blend into the blue background
