Presenting A Gift

Gail Smith-Peterson

“Designing with Vintage” with Gail Smith-Peterson ~ Presenting A Gift

Well it’s on! Tis the season of celebrating, entertaining, decorating and the excitement of gift giving. I like to think the gift appearance is like a gift in itself. The way it is presented appeals to our curiosity of what may be inside.

The thoughtfulness that goes into choosing a gift should equally continue to the wrapping and presenting.

Vintage tins or boxes filled with surprises make a wonderful presentation.

Photographs and vintage papers make beautiful tags. Bows and ribbon carefully hand made with fabrics are a labor of love.

Creating a little bag with little elements glued on will be a personal touch.

Simple elements like ribbon, yarn, twine or string adds a pretty finishing touch to a package.

It’s fun to think of unexpected ways for wrapping a gift. This shirt is the wrapping and the gift tied all up and adorned with a pretty pin.
I love wrapping my gifts early in the holiday season. I seem to have more time to wrap and enjoy creating a lovely presentation.

Using scraps of fabrics and vintage jewelry is gorgeous.

Placing the wrapped gifts around the house becomes part of the holiday decor.

My design tip: Wrapping early can be fun, the gifts can become part of the home’s temporary decoration. A beautiful thoughtful gift should be worth a little extra time for a special presentation you will be excited to give.

Have a wonderful first Christmas weekend!

Gail
