I love Stephen Sills work.  I had the chance to work with him for a couple days on a project in Sausalito, CA. and it was such a pleasure.  Stephen is the definition of perfection!  Here are some images of his newly photographed work in NYC.  Enjoy!

Decorating With Vintage

This is decorating with vintage and salvaged at its best. Hillary Robertson and Alastair McCowan decorated their Fort Greene Brooklyn apartment with vintage European furniture and industrial finds. I appreciate the way they combined traditional lines with more modern. This helps to bring the spaces to life, but the fantastic architectural moldings and windows contribute also! Read more of the Staple-Gun Decorating in Fort Greene article here.

Rustic, Worn and Old Looking Studio

Ariel Alasko's Studio

Brooklyn based wood worker Ariel Alasko makes some nifty tables, but I love peeking in her work space. It's so rustic, worn and old looking. She built her studio inside a larger space. She framed and built the walls herself along with insulating, sheetrocking and soundproofing it.

Check out her cool blog, Brooklyn To West and you can also check out her living space in Design Sponge which is equally as charming as her studio.

Fall Harvest ~ Vintage Dining Inspiration

The colors, aromas, and sentiments associated with fall are undeniably romantic, rich, and worth soaking in as the season unfolds. The table top becomes a canvas where you can layer textiles, experiment with different shapes and colors in your dishes, and accent the scene with seasonal elements like wheat, gourds, and even dried leaves. Check out this selection of autumnal dining and décor inspiration shots to color in your next dining room gathering or back yard soiree!

A Story Told of Spaces Captured

Photographer Brad Knipstein captures spaces that are inspired by the old world. Sepia dark tones, worn furniture and objects with character and charm. All things from the past...a story told through the lens.

A Victorian cottage built in 1936 for a blacksmith tucked away near the seaside in Queenscliff, Victoria Australia sits a shabby, yet charming collected home of second-hand dealer, Deb Kavaliunas. Deb’s passion for collecting obviously has made her house feel somewhat like a museum. Her vintage assemblages and vignettes of bird nests, pottery, books, bottles, cages, toys and marine treasures have created this fantastical whimsy of a home. Deb says “You learn to trust yourself. Not long ago this way of living and collecting was kind of frowned on – nobody wanted this stuff. But I persisted because it felt right, and now it all naturally connects as if it was collected in one go. Your own way of seeing the world will always work best.”

Read more about Deb's home in Home Life. The amazing photography is by Sharyn Cairns.
