Vintage American Industrial Spotlight

A truly antique American architectural artifact. Unique vintage American industrial copper searchlight. Nautical lantern / spotlight.

Exceptional original spotlight by lighting manufacturers Curtis Lighting Inc. Chicago. The light has been beautifully polished to reveal its steel and copper construction. This large, impressive light is mounted on a wooden stand providing a stable and sturdy base. The light is rewired. The glass is original, with Curtis Lighting mark. It is damaged by a bullet hole! We love the originality of this and the story we can make of it (Think: Al Capone, Chicago or WWII as we found the lamp in France and it ended up there somehow). It is very decorative.

Our French Cloister Planks come in a beautiful oxidized patina, heavily brushed surface and hand scraped edges. These planks come from the Lorraine region of France. They are dried in a open field to create that oxidized patina.

We have many widths available as well as parquet strips such as Chevron and Herringbone.  Patina can be modified to a more grey finish with less or more brushing and/or a hand-scuplted surface.

Second Shout Out

At Second Shout Out we think about how to live creatively with our furnishings and simply what does quality really mean.. Not just about buying things but about picking an item that will be part of our family and home for years to come.  Asking questions like “Will this piece have style and will it last in 5, 10, 20 or 25 years?” Questions we can ask ourselves are not only about the style and how it will enhance our enviroment but about the quality it will bring.  Will these pieces with-stand years to come. This is why antiques and vintage are so valuable to us. By shopping on SSO we cna see the proof of most of our decor and furnishings come from many centuries ago. These treasures have traveled years through people’s lives, moved across the country and sometimes across the globe which makes them even more special. Generations of passing on our treasures as life will and does go on. This is part of our journey and part of all the treasures we collect on our journey. Start Collecting.

Anselm Kiefer

Anselm Kiefer is a German painter and sculptor. He studied with Joseph Beuys and Peter Dreher during the 1970s. His works incorporate materials such as straw, ash, clay, lead, and shellac.

Having achieved fame and notoriety in equal measure in the 1980s, he has become one of the world's most singular and successful artists. Working with themes of history, memory and mythology, Kiefer produces work that is consistently controversial and monumental in its scale and ambition.

The History of the Art of Conversation

The Hunt
The art of conversation is a skill that can be mastered. People who have will thrive at work events and are likely to climb the career ladder much faster than the ones who don’t.  This large oil painting depicts three gentlemen having a conversation about their successful hunting trophies. Signed 1858. Oil on canvas. This is an incredible statement painting.
